Since time began for me, there has always been an animal of one kind or another in our home. My father was always bringing home some poor creature needing to be nursed back to health or in need of love and patience.  Dad had lots of experience growing up on a working farm, during the Great Depression. He had a remedy for most everything.

My poor Mother… She was always out-numbered. She had to be reassured that what ever the animal, she would not have to tend to it. Dad always held me to that rule! Responsibility was strictly enforced or out went the animal, no matter what!

I have tended and packed wounds. Bottle or syringe feed, every 2 – 4 hours, sometimes carrying the animal to work, so I wouldn’t miss a feeding. Countless hours, I have spent providing physical therapy to the broken. Slept on the floor, next to the sick and wounded till they were out of danger. Ever tried to medicate a Blue & Gold Macaw, who does not like antibiotics? Well I have the scars to prove it!

My experiences are quite a bit of everything when it comes to animals and nature. Thankfully I know an old horse Veterinarian, who has helped me, were Dad left off. I wanted to be a Veterinarian.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t bring myself to euthanize an animal. And it is a major requirement when working for a Veterinarian’s office. I tried! Let’s just say, my heart isn’t in it.

My husband and I have spent 24 yrs. together as best friends and business partners. That’s 168 in dog years!! We own and operate a commercial grounds maintenance business since 1989. I am a graduate of Tarpon Springs Senior High School in 1980. and attended St. Petersburg Junior College for several years. I was a volunteer for Florida Fish and Game and Florida Forestry, in the Ocala National Forest for 4 years.

At 16, my first job was for an Arabian horse farm. I was hired as a groomer, but it wasn’t long before I was handling most of the operations. I have never had an “indoor” job!

We have 2 rescue dogs, a lab mix a sheltie and four parakeets, 3 of which are rescues. One cat we adopted after her parents passed on.

The love of the outdoors takes us boating, fishing and camping throughout Florida.  We are close to our family, even though some are scattered across the U.S. We take pride in our endeavors, family and Country. God Bless The U.S.A.
